Use of Small Planetary Gear Motors

ISL Products | July 22, 2012 in Geared Motors | Comments (0)

Because of their low noise and high torque, there are many applications for small planetary gear motors.  Other features include that they are dustproof, low in cost, and their longevity.

The following are examples of how these planetary gear motors can be used:

  • Opening and closing an electric curtain
  • Home appliances
  • Medical treatment apparatus
  • Electric bicycles
  • Power tools
  • Controlling equipment on a boat
  • Electronic locks
  • Optical equipment
  • Beauty apparatus
  • Fans
  • Water dispensing
  • Toys
  • Office equipment

New chips that boosts Smartphone Micro Speakers by 5x

ISL Products | in Micro Speakers | Comments (0)

NXP Semiconductors, formally Philips Semiconductors, has announced that it has created a new solution using hearing aid technology that it states can boost micro speakers by up to 5 times.  The new chips will apparently allow the designer to turn up the volume and also increase the current 0.5 watts of RMS output to 2.6 and beyond.

Part of their solution includes more monitoring technology, using adaptive excursion control, to track how much the micro speaker’s cone is physically moving to make sure that it’s within design limits.  They will also monitor temperature to keep the metaphorical eye on the voice coil to prevent it from overheating.

The chip is also capable of adapting to aging factors and damage.

As cellphone and tablet computers have gotten small and thinner, the sound quality of micro speakers has been compromised.  But now this advancement may change this.  Samples are now available, but there are no specifics on when production quantities will become available.

Longevity of a Geared Motor

ISL Products | July 2, 2011 in Geared Motors | Comments (0)

The longevity of geared motors is greatly affected by the load conditions, the mode of operation, the environment of use, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to check the conditions under which the product will actually be used. The following conditions will have a negative effect on longevity.

Please consult with us should any of them apply. Use with a load that exceeds the rated torque Frequent starting Momentary reversals of turning direction Impact loads Long-term continuous operation br /> Forced turning using the output shaft Use in which the permitted overhang load or the permitted thrust load is exceeded . A pulse drive, e.g., a short break, counter electromotive force, PWM Control Use of a voltage that is nonstandard as regards the rated voltage Use outside the prescribed temperature or relative-humidity range, or in a special environment Please consult with us about these or any other conditions of use that may apply, so that we can be sure that you select the most appropriate model.

Long Term Storage of a Geared Motor

ISL Products | in Geared Motors | Comments (0)

Do not store a geared motor in an environment where there are materials that can generate corrosive gas, toxic gas, etc., or where the temperature is excessively high or low or there is much humidity. Please be especially careful with regard to storage for lengthy periods such as 2 years or more.

Relative Humidity for Geared Motors

ISL Products | in Geared Motors | Comments (0)

Geared motors should be used in 20 – 85% relative humidity (no dew condensation).

In a humid environment, the metal parts might rust, causing abnormalities. Therefore, please be careful about use in such an environment.

Temperature Range for Geared Motor Storage

ISL Products | in Geared Motors | Comments (0)

Geared motors should be stored at a temperature of -15 degrees C to 65 degrees C.

In case of storage outside this range, the grease on the gearhead area will become unable to function normally and the motor will becomeunable to start.

Temperature Range for Geared Motors

ISL Products | in Geared Motors | Comments (0)

Geared motors should be used at a temperature of -10 degrees C to +60 degrees C. The figures stated in the catalog specifications are based on use at ordinary room temperature (approximately 20 to 25 degrees C).

If a geared motor is used outside the prescribed temperature range, the grease on the gearhead area will become unable to functionnormally and the motor will become unable to start. Depending on the temperature conditions, it may be possible to deal with them by changing the grease or the motor’s parts. Please feel free to consult with us about this.

Use of Grease with Geared Motor

Grease is applied to the sliding areas of the gears, etc.

Be careful about using the product in a special environment. Due to the structure of geared motors, the grease could ooze out to the exterior.

Handling the Motor Terminal

ISL Products | in Geared Motors | Comments (0)

Please conduct the welding work in a short time.. (Recommendation: With the soldering iron tip at a temperatureof 340 – 400 degrees C, within 2 seconds.)

Applying more heat than is necessary to the terminal can melt the motor’s parts or otherwise harm its internal structure. Moreover, applying excessive force to the terminal area can put stress on themotor’s interior and damage it.

Installation of Geared Motor on Output Shaft

ISL Products | in Geared Motors | Comments (0)

Please be careful with regard to applying adhesive.

It is necessary to be careful that the adhesive does not spread along the shaft and flow into the bearing, etc. Moreover, do not use a silicon adhesive or other volatile adhesive, as it could harmfully affect themotor’s interior. In addition, avoid press fitting, as it could deform or damage the motor’s internal mechanism.
