Ballasts are essential to increasing the safety and working lifetime of UV lamps. Our unique ballasts are a combination of passive electronic components that convert an AC input of around 50-60 Hz and modulate it to a 20-80 kHz square or sine wave pulse output. This eliminates the flicker that was originally associated with fluorescent lamps. Ballasts take a 120 or 277 volt AC input and transform it into between a couple of hundred and a couple of thousand-volt output to spark the lamp. Once the lamp is illuminated, the ballast regulates the current through the lamp while still having enough potential difference between the diodes of the lamp to sustain the arc. We have the ability to design our unique ballasts with a variety of starting technologies to operate all types of UV-C lamps in the most efficient manner, depending on your specific application and lamp requirements.
